Tuesday P.'s Story

Tuesday P. Brooks spends her time as a media manager and consultant after having dedicated many years to the entertainment industry both as a performer and a production professional. She has guided media professionals and performers with the business side of their career since 1994, when she formed Ajoy Management Enterprise, which at its inception focused primarily on publicity and marketing. As a child actress, Tuesday won the 1st Harlem Mini Miss Pageant at age 11 based on her performance of the monologue ¿In White America¿ (and is still reigning Mini Miss because there hasn¿t been a pageant since!). She went on to graduate from the Ophelia DeVore School of Charm and performed in theater productions with her high school, with the famed Harlem Children¿s Theater Company and trained in drama dance with the magnificent Eartha Kitt. While at Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers, Tuesday was an Accounting major and filled her schedule with extracurricular activities such as School and Senior Class Treasurer, Junior Achievement (slinging shellacked plaques), managing the volleyball team (job for the scrubs), track and field (much more talent), singing with the gospel choir (as in Lord teach this girl to sing), school plays and the International Thespian Society. She entered college, Binghamton University, at just 16 years of age. She studied under the great playwright Loften Mitchell (as in Broadway¿s Bubbling Brown Sugar) and performed in a staged production of Sam-Art Williams¿ play called Home, to rave review. With an insatiable desire for action and adventure, she enlisted in the United States Army Reserves at the end of her sophomore year. There she learned discipline and perseverance which would prepare her for her pledge to the first and foremost Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc (AKA). Her interest in AKA lead to the chartering of the first black Greek letter academic sorority on the SUNY Binghamton campus, Xi Rho Chapter. Membership in this organization also sparked her sense of civic responsibility. Four years after graduating from Binghamton with a BA, she earned an MA from Teachers College, Columbia University. Upon graduation from the program she was chosen to represent new teachers at the New Teachers Survey Conference in Washington DC and was inducted into the academic honor society Kappa Delta Pi. ief because of her desire to re-commit to a career in entertainment, Tuesday enjoyed teaching at Riker¿s Island Educational Facility (yes, a school in a jail) and another alternative high school in Upper Manhattan. Teaching fortified her love for children and desire to mentor teens. She has been a mentor with the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) and activist for the protection and education of young people. She¿s currently a Community Representative with New York City¿s Children¿s Services and Vice President of Parent Services at her son¿s elementary school (a small and wonderful NYC public school, by the way). Tuesday has received numerous recognition and appreciation awards for civic participation including a Proclamation from New York City Council President Andrew Stein and a Letter of Recognition from the former Manhattan Borough President, Ruth Messinger. She served as a greeter with the Big Apple Greeter organization (BAG), sat on the Board of BAG for ten years, is currently Treasurer of her neighborhood block association and sits on an Institutional Review Board (IRB ¿ for the protection of human subjects) at Columbia University Medical Center. Even as an actress and model she was always interested in the business aspects of entertainment so she completed an MBA in Media Management at Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) in 2001. Tuesday has been involved in the production of many media ventures large and small. She produced a three-part pilot for an entertainment talk show entitled ¿With Tuesday,¿ conducted red-carpet interviews at major events such as the Essence Awards , worked in production on the Universal Studio/Spike Lee Joint film Inside Man (2006) starring Denzel Washington and director Spike Lee, TV One¿s Sharp Talk with show host Al Sharpton, extra work in All My Children (still a diehard fan), appeared in commercials and print for NBC network, Ebony Magazine, Macy¿s, a fitness campaign for the Harlem YMCA and modeled for the Black Fashion Museum and Harlem Week, Inc. for many years. She has been quoted in business publications such as Black Enterprise Magazine and the Guide To Starting Your Own Business (Wendy Beech) and uses her business skills to manage the gospel act, Maharold Peoples, Jr. & Tribe of Praise. Tuesday is a native New Yorker, reared in The Bronx and currently lives with her husband Ben and son Rawm in Manhattan.
